IT ALL BEGINS WITH THE TAG...
The tag is graffiti in its purest, most basic form. Scorned by the uninitiated and overlooked by the amateur, these unadorned letterforms communicate times, places, and histories. A well-executed tag is a beautiful thing– perfected only through repetition and study, it can’t be forced or faked.
SF Hands is a photographic testament to this most fundamental manifestation of graffiti and the stylish ways in which San Francisco’s writers have shaped it. The exhibition celebrates over 20 years of handstyles in the 7x7, beginning in the early 1990s and ending in 2017.
Opening Reception: July 8, 7-10pm. Exhibition runs through August 6.
Our gallery space is singularly focused on providing a platform for Bay Area graffiti writers to present their work.
